Heart Hoop Earring Tutorial – Week 8

I guess I cannot get enough of these heart designs! And this Heart Earring design I dedicate to my parents who’s anniversary is today!  They were married 33 years ago on February Friday the 13th!  We are so lucky to have parents that truly love and care for each other.  They have gone through a lot of exciting adventures throughout their life, and they are each others biggest supporters.

This is at my wedding, and I love seeing all of us together!  How we love our mom and dad:)

So For Week 8 of the 52 Week Challenge I introduce the Heart Hoop Earring Tutorial.  This earring was the easiest one to make out of the heart earrings, which was a relief:)

The tools that you will need are:

Copper Wire  – It is cut out at 2 1/2 inches or you can cut it out smaller or bigger depending on how big or small you would like your hoop earrings.

I love working with the copper wire because it helps me feel confident in making the design before I go on and attempt to make it with the Sterling Silver Wire.  The Copper Wire, is also a little bit easier to bend than the Sterling Silver Wire, but overall if you can make it with the copper wire you can make it with the Sterling Silver wire! Please remember it is not good to put in your ear, it will cause some major damage.

Sterling Silver Wire – This is 20 gauge Sterling Silver Wire, and it is the exact wire that I use.  Cut this wire out at 2 1/2 inches.  If you would like a smaller hoop, cut it out smaller, if you like bigger hoops, then by all means cut the wire to whatever size you want!

We are selling a Sterling Silver Wire/ Copper DIY kit, it you do not know where to find Sterling Silver or copper.  The Sterling Silver in this kit is pre tumbled which means that it is nice and shiny!  This is the wire that we use in our etsy shop and it is amazing to work with and of good quality, the kit is found here.

Round Nose Pliers

Wire Cutters

Measuring Tool

Flat Head Pliers

Jewelry cloth to clean the Sterling Silver

Good luck on making these earrings, if you have been practicing the other heart earring tutorials that I have, then you will feel more comfortable making the heart design!

Tales of the Shop

What a cold winter it has been here in Canada!  I mean I have lived in cold places like Utah, Idaho and Michigan, but Canada is by far the coldest yet:)  The hardest part of the day for me is going to the bus stop and picking up my sweet angels.  Not because I do not want to see them.   It is because it is so COLD outside!  Thank heavens for my eight month pregnant belly to help me feel warm.

My boys on the other hand, love the snow.  It takes them a half an hour to get home from the bus stop because they insist on climbing every snow mountain and jumping off of it.  I need to have a more positive attitude about this cold front, because snow truly is a kids paradise:)

My daughter and I tried our hand at these this week. Hers were a bit closer to the same size than mine. It was a great mother-daughter activity. Thanks for sharing!
