For Week 6 of the 52 Week challenge, I decided that I needed to post a Heart Earring Tutorial, because Valentines Day is right around the corner. This earring is a fun and challenging one. It took a lot of tries with my copper wire and teaching this design to a fun group of ladies, that I was finally able to do it!
I have no doubt that you will be able to do it though. In fact while you are making these earrings, you will probably find another way to make these heart earrings, that might be a little easier, if so please tell me!
Items that you will need are:
Copper Wire - It is cut out at three inches.
I have learned to love working with the copper wire because it gets me really confident in making the design before I go on and attempt to make it with the Sterling Silver Wire. The Copper Wire, is also a little bit easier to bend than the Sterling Silver Wire, but overall if you can make it with the copper wire you can make it with the Sterling Silver wire! Please remember it is not good to put in your ear, it will cause some major damage.
Sterling Silver Wire - Cut out at 2 1/2 inches, or three inches if you would like a bigger heart.
We are selling a Sterling Silver Wire/ Copper DIY kit, it you do not know where to find Sterling Silver or copper. The Sterling Silver is pre tumbled which means that it is nice and shiny! This is the wire that we use in our etsy shop and it is amazing to work with and of good quality, the kit is found here.
Here is the youtube video for the Heart Earring Tutorial:
You will do a wonderful job making these earrings, and the person you give them to will love them and it will mean so much more because you made them. Or you can just keep them:)
Tales of the Shop:
This is me with my wonderful roommates at Brigham Young University – Idaho. I was able to have the same roommates for all of four years of college, and I could not have asked for better friends:) Valentines day for us was not a highly anticipated event, because we never seemed to have anyone shower us with lots of gifts… We were not bitter, in fact we took matters into our own hands. Our Sophomore year my roommates and I were walking by a flower shop the day after Valentines day and saw all of these beautiful flowers in the dumpster, so we grabbed them and took them home! I dare say that this was my favorite Valentines Day ever!
Happy Valentines to all of you!
